Day in the Life of Me!: College Tips From the Road So Far

Life in college can be difficult. But it can also be fun and exciting! Here are the things that I have found in my college experience so far.

1. There is homework. ALL THE TIME. There will almost never be a day when you don't have any. But if you time manage correctly it is easy to get through!

2. There are clubs, teams, groups, and other organizations that you can join! And you should try them all out! This is how you meet new friends and become more and more acquainted with college.

3. There are social events. Such as going to a sporting event with your friends, or hanging out in the caf. There is ALWAYS something to do on campus, you just have to know how to find it. If there is nothing that piques your interest on campus then go off campus! My friends and I like to try out different coffee shops, little stores, and cafes! One that we just tried out recently was in the nearby city of Findlay. It was called Coffee Amici and it was absolutely amazing. The coffee we all tried was called the Melted Snowflake, and it was one of the best things that I have tried at a coffee joint.

Left to Right: Ellen Greene, Tori Hossenlopp (otherwise known as Tori-Saurus), Emily Nolting, and Me!(:
Other things that you can do on or off campus is attending open mic nights! These are fun new ways to listen to live music without the hefty ticket costs! Two of my sisters just performed in one on campus last Friday and did wonderfully!

4. Making new friends while keeping the old. It isn't a bad thing to keep in touch with your friends back home. I still plenty of friends from high school that I keep in touch with on a regular basis. However, part of college is branching out and meeting new people. So make sure that you, however hard it may be, step a little outside your comfort zone so that you can meet people that have the same interests, hobbies, or things alike as you. Pictured above are three of my new friends (they also happen to be three of my sorority sisters)!
My new Tower 51 (circa 1958) vintage camera! I'm in love(:

5. There are unexpected fire drills at 2 AM. One experience I will never forget is the moment when someone burnt rice in their microwave and set off the fire alarm at two in the morning. Let's just say that I was a little more than annoyed when I was abruptly woken up in the middle of the night. All I hope is NEVER AGAIN.

6. Buying things you don't need. When you are a freshmen, like me, you might find yourself buying things other than the necessity. From sweets to a vintage camera that you might just carry around like your very own child for several days because you are so obsessed with it. AKA that's what I just did but hey, it was only 10 bucks!

7. Buying things you think you need like grape juice. (grape juice is my love.) There are things you might think you need like a cool Walking Dead poster that is "only 5 bucks" or maybe even an endless supply of grape juice and poptarts but there are many ways that you can save money while you are in college. One of them is cutting back on the things that you don't need. I know that there might be a super cute shirt for only 15 bucks at the local target but that money could be going towards new experiences with your friends, so remember to spend wisely!

8. Don't wait til the last minute to do things! See you might be telling yourself that you have plenty of time to work on the paper due on Friday. You may rationalize that you have all week to finish it, but before you know it Friday will no longer be days away it will be TOMORROW! Then you will have to rush to finish that paper, printing it out at the last possible second, skidding to a halt and turning it in to your teacher, whilst you have two cups of coffee in your hand (which act as the only thing keeping you awake). Which leads into my next thing that I have learned.

9. Staying up all night is for nocturnal animals and sorry to tell you but you aren't one. There may be nights when you are tempted to stay up all night so that you can continue to cram for that class you didn't pay attention in all semester, but don't. There are studies that show staying up all night will not help you but just effect your memory negatively! I suggest early to bed and an early morning rise and shine will beaucoup de cafe.

10. College is stressful, but don't let that get you down. College is hard. It is a lot of work and it is easy to get stressed. I don't want to scare you (if you aren't in college already), but there is gonna be a lot of work ahead of you, but you can do it!
A tip from me, DON'T BE ALL WORK AND NO PLAY.
It sounds a little like the Shining, I know. But if all you do is school work then you will end up stressing yourself out beyond belief and that will make college a bad experience for you! Sometimes it is okay to take a break from the hard work and hang out with your friends to blow off some steam!

The last thing that I have to tell you is to have fun. FIND THE BALANCE BETWEEN SCHOOL AND WORK BUT HAVE FUN LOVELIES! I REALLY NEED TO TURN THE caps lock off. Okay that's better. Well I hope that you guys have an amazing Wednesday! In Zeta we do this thing called #FeelGoodWednesday where we do something that makes ourselves feel good! Mine today was that I curled my hair for the first time in a while and I got to wear my favorite pair of sunglasses!(:
Okie doke! It is time for me to head to class, so bye lovelies!

Taylor(:

Plaid is the New Black

Hey guys! It's crazy that school has already begun, at least for most of us, this school year! I hope that you guys had an awesome break and made some amazing memories! Today I'm gonna talk about a few of my winter picks!

So this winter the style is leaning towards more earthy colors! It is fun to play with different color schemes, patterns and other designs. Here are a few of my winter favorites.

PLAID. plaid. PlAiD. And more PLaiD!
This winter plaid is one of my favorite things to wear. From blanket scarves which are HUGE right now to button ups. Some of the things that I like the best in plaid are loose button ups. The boyfriend fit button up is something that should be in every girl's wardrobe. It is super comfy because of the size and super fashionable too! If you don't like the length of you button up, tucking it in is a definite option, like I did with this vintage boyfriend button up from AM Eagle.

Although plaid is huge this season, there are other things that are making their fashion debut such as long cardigans! These just happen to be great for cuddling up with a cup of coffee and a book as well as being fashionable!

Other things that are coming into the world of fashion are leggings. Now I am one of those people who doesn't like to wear leggings as pants, but pairing extra long ones with a pair of boots and a dress can help make your outfit winter appropriate.

Boots are one of those things that are always in style. They seem to leave the trending section, so don't forget yours at home. My personal favorite are combat boots. The ones that I just got are super comfortable and cute! Some people think that fashionable boots are hard to keep good and warm with a harsh winter, but they are wrong! You've just got to know where to buy them. Certain brands like UGGs (Don't hold me to it, I am only going by word on this one since I don't own a pair), Bearclaw, and the kind that I just bought, SPORTO, can be super good! The kind that I just bought are insulated and waterproof! It is awesome for my everyday snowy trek across campus.

That is all I have for today! No worries, there will be more to come in the future. If you would like to follow, comment, or share this there are links below! Thanks for reading! Have an amazing day lovelies!

Star-tastic Apple Sammiches with Taylor!

Star-tastic Apple Sammiches with Taylor!

Ingredients:

- Apples of Your Choice

- Chocolate Chips

-Peanut Butter

-Granola

Steps:

STEP ONE: Slice and Dice yo apples.  Taylor believes it helps to not cut your fingers if you quietly chant “DON’T SLICE YOUR FINGERS.  DON’T SLICE YOUR FINGERS.”  So far, she is right.  But tread with caution, for if you do cut a finger, do not pass go and do not collect $200.

STEP TWO:  Take a small cookie cutter and cut out of the core! Make sure  that the apple slices are thin enough they won’t split when you put the cookie cutter through it.  It also has to be thick enough that it won’t snap in half also.  We chose a star.  Because that is EXACTLY what we are.  Duh.  Just kidding.  That’s the only small one we had.

STEP THREE:  Add three BIG spoon fulls of peanut butter into a bowl. Be sure to be mighty generous with all ingredients! Then continue to add half a cup of chocolate chips and half a cup of granola to the peanut butter.  And Mix.
STEP FOUR:  Match up like sized apple pieces and spread the lovely mixture you made in the step before in between the two slices of apple.   Word from the wise.  It’s not as easy as it sounds.  Look at Taylor’s corresponding face in the picture below.
Thanks for reading lovelies!!! I hope that you loved making this little snack with us! If you would like to see the original site that I got this from the link is below, it is because of them I got to make this creative and yummy snack!! Have a wonderful rest of your evenings!

Courtney's Yummy-Tummy Favorite Salad in the History of EVER!

Courtney's Yummy-Tummy Favorite Salad in the History of EVER:

Ingredients:

Spinach or lettuce.  Whatever you please! Even grass if that's what floats your boat!

Mozzarella Cheese

Dried Cranberries

Ranch Roasted Almond Slices

Italian Dressing

Steps!:

One: Get a big bowl and add the greens of your choice to the
bowl! (We used spinach, baby bok choy, baby red & green chard).

Dos: Grate either mozzarella or Italian cheese  over your greens! *Note to self don't eat all of the cheese before you put it in the bowl*  GRATE YO SELF HAPPY! (: Do not let friend bite the cheese block, unfortunately I would like to report a cheese fatality. Cause of death: Courtney's teeth.

Trois!:  Sprinkle the Ranch baked Almond Slices generously (or however else you please) onto the salad. NOM NOM NOM.

FOUR! (No not Theo James from Divergent.): Sprinkle the dried cranberries just as generously! Yumooooooo!
Isn't it so perty??

Five: Toss your salad and then put it in individual bowl and add your dressing.  This also saves arguments over other condiments to put on the salad between you and your BFF.
I hope you enjoy this salad as much as I do.  My papaw actually got me  hooked on this and I eat it pretty much everyday.  It is so yummy.  We would love to hear feed back on your thoughts about it!!  Thanks for your time and HAPPY EATING!
